Modern Medieval

Posted by Ryan Hammond (Tucson, United States) on 18 April 2014 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

I took this picture almost exactly two years ago alongside one of my favorite photographers, Ian Bramham. I wish I could remember exactly where this was but I'm fairly certain in was in North Wales. It was the first castle I've ever visited and I remember being surprised that there were so many people, cars and boats around. There was even a lively carnival just to the right of the castle. Before this, I had envisioned each castle to be located in some desolate area; almost a ghost town of sorts. I guess that's to be expected when an American visits the U.K. having no prior knowledge of castles other than what he's seen in the movies.
